Journey into the Psyche

shadow work

Home / glossary / shadow work

Shadow work is a psychological practice that aims to help you accept the hidden parts of yourself that you’ve repressed or ignored. The term was coined by Carl Jung, who called these parts the “shadow self. Shadow work is the process of uncovering, acknowledging, and understanding your shadow self, and integrating it into your whole self.  Shadow work can help you heal from trauma, resentment, and other negative emotions.

"By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm." - Dalai Lama
